The problem
Two maples showed root flare buried under mulch; rotor heads weren’t popping fully—risking dry patches mid-summer.
Work performed
- Mulch pulled back from trunks to proper depth and saucer shape
- Heads exposed and tested before reinstall
- Edge re-cut for a crisp line against sod without cutting wire paths blind
Outcome & results
Irrigation check passed; homeowner added us to quarterly bed maintenance after seeing water coverage improve.
- All tested heads popped to full arc after mulch correction
- Quarterly bed maintenance added same season
- Root flares visible again—no “volcano” piles against trunks
